It was quiet for a long time… now it’s getting loud again!
With their new album Alles ausser Stille, punk rock band ZiRKA make an impressive return on their 20th anniversary. After the acclaimed previous albums Wir sterben leise and Wer schreit, lügt nicht, the band consistently continues their unmistakable style while still daring to set new accents. Inspired by American and German punk as well as a touch of modern pop culture, the songs combine catchy melodies, powerful messages and energetic riffs.
ZiRKA remain true to their reputation for analyzing social issues with a clear view and processing them musically. On Alles ausser Stille, the 13 tracks deal with the climate crisis (“Kein Plan B”) and the growing shift to the right in Europe (“Realität”). At the same time, the album offers space for personal stories, such as in “Du bleibst”, a moving tribute to a deceased friend of the band, or “Schwarzes Rauschen”, in which the singer once again processes his experiences with depression in a personal song.
The songs were created in ZiRKA’s rehearsal room in Münsingen, where the first demos were recorded. Producer Nico Feelisch provided creative input before the tracks were given the finishing touches at the “Rock or Die Studio” in Düsseldorf. Producer Michael Czernicki, known for his work with the punk band “Rogers”, took over the recording, mixing and mastering there.
The album title “Alles ausser Stille” is a multi-layered statement: it stands for resistance to social injustice, for escape from inner emptiness and for ZiRKA’s attitude – to look, to speak up, not to give up. With a mixture of energy, melody and depth, the album invites you to listen, empathize and reflect, while at the same time honouring the band’s roots and opening up new horizons.
