With an empty rucksack and yet a full heart, as one of their songs says, they are back – back on everyone’s lips. KORNBLUMENBLAU’s new album ‘Wind gen Morgen’ is sweeping across the country, reaching club and festival stages, sound boxes, ears and, above all, hearts almost in the blink of an eye. Founded in 2014, KORNBLUMENBLAU is a Thuringian punk rock band with female lead vocals, German lyrics and accordion. “Accordion and punk rock? Sounds more like folk music…” – Far from it. KORNBLUMENBLAU makes the ship’s piano great again. Anyone who has experienced KORNBLUMENBLAU live remembers dynamic, even lively and rousing stage shows in which the accordion certainly doesn’t just call for swaying. Following the release of their first album ‘Unschuld vom Lande’ in 2017, Kornblumenblau have been busy on stages all over Germany. The four musicians, who all come from small villages in Thuringia, no longer just address the issues of fascist provincial problems in their new album. In addition to the growing shift to the right and dealing with all forms of social injustice, such as xenophobia, big business, police violence, etc., with ‘Wind gen Morgen’ they not only take a look at social action. What does it actually look like for me? What role do I play in all this? They also take a blunt look at themselves, but remain optimistic. At least the young Thuringians’ mantra is to do their own, albeit small, part to make the increasingly unbalanced world a peaceful place. Anyone who knew ‘Unschuld vom Lande’ will probably be completely surprised by ‘Wind gen Morgen’. KORNBLUMENBLAU is and remains fast and brute punk, but shows musical sophistication and feeling with a varied set, through loud but also quiet tones. With ‘Wind gen Morgen’, KORNBLUMENBLAU not only proves its social mission, but above all its heart.
